Infinite Algorithms Algorithms for Consumer Electronics, Audio, Video, Imaging, and Wireless Audio
|
|
| Home | Audio is an important component of the term "Video". Video without audio is not an interesting thing to watch. It is actually the surround audio that enhances the movie experience helping to suspend "disbelief" while watching a movie. Without such multi-channel surround audio, watching movies either at a movie theater or at a home theater would be very stale. Audio processing started with the development of digital signal processing in the early sixties and seventies. Many of the time-domain and frequency-domain approaches were helpful in modeling speech and speech compression. The success of Linear Predictive coding lead to many interesting speech compression algorithms such as DPCM, CELP, PAC, etc. Music and audio happens to be wideband signals and many of these early models were adapted to music. The wild success of MP3 resulted in a flourishing mobile entertainment market. Further improvements over MP3 have become standards for H.264 video coding technology. Audio now has multi-channel formats such as Surround sound 5.1/6.1/7.1 available with DVD movies and Blu-ray discs. See our "Products" page for our own innovation in this field.
