Digital Cinema
Digital Cinema is the next stage in the development of high definition high quality entertainment systems. Digital Cinema standard was created by seven motion picture studios: Disney, Fox, MGM, Paramount, Sony, Universal and Warner Brothers in 2005. This standard spells out the design of:
- Digital Cinema Distribution Master - containing very high resolution video, images, text and sub images, and multi-channel audio
- Compression format using JPEG2000 coder
- Packaging of the distribution master
- Transport means for distribution networks
- Theater systems including digital projectors, screen management systems, and theater management systems
- Projection methods ensuring strict quality controls and
- Security with encryption, key management, and event logging and monitoring
